McCollough Gulch Trail
This was my teen’s favorite hike.

The McCollough Gulch Trail was by far our favorite of all our Colorado hikes while we were in Breckenridge. The mountains all around are gorgeous and at the top is a waterfall and glacial lake. We saw marmots and pikas on our way up. My 14 year old proclaimed that all hikes from here on out would be compared to this one.

There are times on the trail where I questioned the ‘easy’ rating. At one point a sign states ‘Trail’ with an arrow, but all I saw were piles of rocks. When we reached the top, I had to surpress the urge to swing around singing “The hills are alive with the Sound of Music.” I’m sure my boys would have LOVED that. Here are photos of our trek. I’d love to say it looked just like this, but honestly, the photos don’t do the hike justice. It’s more beautiful.

We learned some new animals on our trip to Colorado. The pika, shown here and the marmot, which we also saw on this hike.
