Hi, I’m Sue Rodman and I publish Field Trips with Sue, an award winning family travel blog about the Southeast and fun places to visit from the Southeast. We cover outings, day trips, weekend getaways and family vacations. I’ve written more than 1,000 posts, and I still love it. People ask if I ever run out of material and the answer is no — there is always a new adventure out there!
I’m the mom of three boys ranging in age from elementary through high school. They are my favorite travel companions and we have a great time together. I love that my teenagers still want to take field trips with us and enjoy seeing them make connections with the places we visit, as well as each other.
Field Trips with Sue is a Nickelodeon Parent’s Pick Winner, a Red Tricycle Best Family Travel Blog and a Parents.com best blog nominee. It also gets two thumbs up from my dad. I’ve been interviewed on Family Travel in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, The Northside Neighbor, Publix Magazine, and on all three major networks. In addition to the blog, I’m part of the Traveling Mom network. For four years, I shared my knowledge of family travel in a regular Field Trips with Sue segment on CBS Better Mornings Atlanta and occasionally filled in for Valerie Hoff’s Friday Freebies on WXIA, Atlanta’s NBC affiliate. I still write for family travel sites such as Traveling Mom, Trekaroo, MiniTime, Travel Savvy Mom, Preferred Family Travel, Ciao Bambino, Pit Stops for Kids, and TripAdvisor, as well as print publications such as Simply Buckhead and BuckHaven Magazine. I’ve also published stories on Explore Georgia, the website of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. I speak about family travel to mom’s groups, church groups, and pretty much anyone who shows a mild interest. I’ve also captured hundreds of trip ideas, inside information about must-see Atlanta attractions and more in my popular book “100+ Free Things to do in Atlanta.”
In addition to Field Trips with Sue, I am an award winning public relations practitioner, chauffeur, and ice cream lover (Breyer’s Mint Chocolate Chip). I don’t necessarily appreciate fancy wine, but do appreciate a fancy hotel.
Remember — there aren’t any bad field trips, just better stories. So start exploring!
